8 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup Lyle’s cane syrup or light corn syrup
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon table salt
6 ounces (12 tablespoons) unsalted butter, at room temperature and cut into pieces
