FunBrain is the #1 site for online educational games for kids of all ages. (math, grammar, science, spelling, history). The website includes potential activities for teacher and parent use as well as independent student work. It also has direct links to Web Books and movies previews. The site has more of an elementary set up, and I would suggest it being used with grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade.
This website is kid-friendly and it allows for students to be interactive with the material being studied. It covers a wide range of subjects including math, history, biology etc. It has fun facts on the home page which allows for further independent interest on the website. It can also be followed on other social netowrks such as facebook and twitter which is becoming wildly popular in our society.
The Exploratorium: a hands-on museum of science, art, and human perception in San Francisco. Our site provides interactive online exhibits and exhibitions, activities, Webcasts, and more. This could be incorporated in an upper elementary level classroom, because it looks at data sets and attempts to discover what causes natural phenomena such as earthquakes and volcano eruptions.
A free website to teach children to read with phonics. For preschool, kindergarten, and first grade. Exciting phonics games and online interactive books. This is more targeting ealry elementary students, but requires reading. The website is incredibly interactive and informative. I personally love this website, becaus eof all of the fun things that are included. It also focuses in on reading and different reading levels. Students could independently navigate this site.
Welcome to theKidzpage web site for kids! Explore free printable & online kids games, activities, puzzles, clip art, colouring pages and online coloring. This website is mostly for the student's use, but could be used by teachers and parents that are looking for fun activities at home or in the classroom. The website includes holiday, and specila event material which is helpful in the classroom. It also includes "Brain Games" that force the students to not only have fun, but apply what they have learned in different subject areas.
A safe place for kids to explore and play hundreds of fun educational games with their favorite PBS KIDS characters. This website is good for Early Childhood stages. The students can interact with their favorite TV show characters. They can read stories about them, and sing songs along with them. They can also play games and answer trivia about the stories they have/the show their character is on. They can also color and use many of the color tools offered on this website.
This website is a good website for teachers to use as a writing tool. The website gives examples of fairytales, and allows the student to write their own version. This allows for the creativity of the student to shine interactively. They can also post them and read their other classmate's work.
Play the best free games, puzzle games, word and trivia games, card and board games, action and arcade games, poker and casino games, pop culture games and more. MSN Games allows for educational and fun games in the classroom. Incorporating the Smart Board and playing multiplayer games with the entire class could be a great, interavtive classroom tool.
This website gives students tools to use when they need assistance with school work. It can be used at home or at school, and it allows them to ask questions and explore further into their content area. The website is easy to navigate, and appealing to the eye. It also gives students the ability to connect to toher websites that can help them complete assignments. There are also online activities that can help review a subject.
This website is definitely a student tool, and is very infomative. It looks into the inner workings of the brain, and the brain's different parts. It also allows the students to personalize their own page, and become a brain agent. There are also many interactive tools that go along with the website. It is user friendly, and easily understood by students.
This website could be used as a middle school/high school level writing tool. The site walks anyone who clicks on the link through the entire writing process step-by-step. It refreshes students on how to cite sources in their writing, using quotations, and also the general format of the paper. The site is very useful, and I would reccomment it for students that have entered the field of higher education (college etc.) because it never hurts to have a refresher. The site also gives information on plagarism, and the importance of citing sources.
This website allows students, teachers, and parents to research a person in history that interests them. This site is a good tool to use when writing a biography for social studies, or if I wanted to do a project on a key political figure this site will make that much easier. The information is easy to obtain, and the site is easy to nivgate through. Make sure to monitor the students' use due to the mature nature of the site.
Teaching and Learning with The New York Times is a website that could be used by both teachers and students, but the tools for students are what I would like to focus on. The site allows students to read the latest current events in the United States, and students can go to the opinions section and write their own opinions. They can also read the opinions of their peers. The site also shares a variety of lesson plans that tie into current events.
This site is a gateway site for teachers and students. Teachers can choose to bring the class together to play on the site or have the students work independently. The site organizes information in sub categories to make activities in your area of concentration easier to find. The activities range in age group and should be reviewed by the teacher before letting the students just play them on their own.
This is a fun site for teachers, parents, and kids featuring free educational games, coloring pages, interactive e-books, holiday activities, musical postcards, crafts, worksheets, and more! the site is very easy to navigate, and could used for so many different activities in the classroom. The site offers fun and interactive games that will help to maintain classroom management issues during free time. At the same time the site allows teachers to make sure their students are getting extra practice in classroom topics.
