  • Jackie Robinson was born in Cairo, Georgia to a family that was heavily involved in the sports lifestyle. His childhood was embedded with all types of physical activities that led to his ascent into Major League Baseball, after his short stint in the military. After receiving honorable discharge, he joined a negro league but was quickly recruited by the manager of the Dodgers. Once in the big leagues, Jackie faced much discrimination and hatred from not only other players, but also his fellow team mates. He powered through these criticisms and continued on to break the color barrier in his decade long career with the Brooklyn Dodgers.

  • Jackie Robinson was born to an impoverished family, who sunk even lower once the father was removed from the picture. He was heavily influenced by his older brother, who came in second at the Olympics to Jessie Owens. This inspired him to pursue a career in sports, after his small enlisted period in the military during WW2. He went on to do amazing things in the way of sports, breaking many records, as well as becoming a figurehead in the African American Movement.
