      The sixth-annual "Teaching History With Technology Workshop" is an intensive three-day "hands-on" opportunity for history and social studies teachers and professors to explore practical ways to use technology to enrich the history curriculum and engage students. The workshop will explore innovative ideas, effective techniques, and ready-made plans for incorporating Web-based resources, desktop software packages and new and emerging technologies into classroom instruction of history. The workshop will be held at the Noble and Greenough School in Greater Boston. Each participant will be supplied with a computer for the duration of the workshop and have extended "hands-on" time to master the information and skills presented.

    The conference will be held at the Milwaukee County Zoo, July 28-31 (9am-4pm). It is a hands-on collaborative conference in which we will learn about wikis, digital mapping, digital photography, video-editing, and podcasting.

    Students in grades 7-12 are welcome to come to the conference with their teachers. We also have a student track for students grades 3-6 to come with their teachers on Tuesday, July 29th.

    WIPTE is open to anyone with an interest in instructional technology. A wide variety of disciplines are embracing Tablet PC's and similar pen-based devices as tools for the radical enhancement of teaching and learning. This conference is intended to leverage this shared passion and to identify best practices in the educational use of pen-based computing so that all educators may benefit from this next generation of technology. Each WIPTE paper presentation includes an assessment component as an important part of the presentation. The WIPTE program also includes keynote talks, poster presentations, vendor booths, panels, and special sessions.
