"Magic is for children and cruel, cowardly adults. This is what Thor and all Asgardians are taught and know is true."
"According to the report, Loki had several broken bones and had head injuries in the front of his skull as well as the back. He also seemed to be sick, for he was getting a fever and was confused as hell.
The report didn't state it like that, mind you, they used some fancy words, but Tony could easily see by the way he kept asking where he was, who they all were, and what he had done that Loki was one big ball of confusion."
"Loki returns to Asgard after Avengers and his family, especially his mother Frigga, searches for answers and hope."
"When Thor is abducted by a mysterious foe, Sif and the Warriors Three go to the rescue, with the help of Thor's now much-younger brother. But how far can you trust even a child trickster?"
"Thor finds Loki after his return to life. He's been gone too long.
Set after The Mighty Thor 12 and before Exiled 01."
"In which our heroes learn the perils of lack of inter-team communication, and Loki gives his side of the story."
"Written for the Norsekink prompt: "SHIELD has Loki in custody, with the gag on to keep him from spellcasting, but they don't really know what to DO with him. They can't give him food or water or attempt to interrogate him with the gag on, and they don't dare take it off. Their solution? Call in a telepath! But Charles Xavier may find more things in Loki's head than SHIELD bargained for...""
"A summary of the plot: teenage Loki's secretive behaviour and Asgard's lack of sex ed cause major, horrible problems.
A summary of the reasons you shouldn't read this: it is basically a trigger warning made into a fic. SERIOUSLY DON'T READ IT."
What makes a truth; belief, or knowledge? Is Loki a monster because he believes it, or is he one because others believe his race is?
Aka: the story where Thor proves his love for his brother, and ropes the Avengers into helping him fix Loki. Also, Odin gets his just desserts.
Written for this prompt at norsekink: "Although I dont usually like death fics, this took ahold of my brain and didnt want to let go. Loki commits suicide by magic-ing Thor into killing him, in front of the rest of Asgard, while explaining all the things that Thor and "his" family did to break him so badly. I want Loki calm and cruel, and Thor a delicious wreck who has complete awareness over what he is doing."
Warnings, obviously, for suicide and character death.
Set immediately post-Avengers.
When young Loki raised the Sword of Surtur against the betrayer Thor would have spared, he glimpsed a terrible darkness in his heart. Afeard of his own future, he casts himself forward in time. There, he bears witness to the chaos on Midgard wrought by his own hands and despairs over his fall from prince to villain - a path that seems more and more inevitable. [In other words, Tales of Asgard!Loki finds himself in Avengers!Loki's shoes.]
Tony's voice echoed in the cavern, hollow against the walls. "Are you out of your mind? That thing's going to take your head off!"
The snake, however, did not move- did not even seem to be watching his teammate approach. And almost as though in response to his own voice, the sound from before came again, long and trembling- midway between a moan and a sob. This time, when his eyes darted in search of the source, the darkness did not block his sight: the naked figure of a man lay stretched beneath the snake, bound to an outcropping of rock. He was all ribs and sharp ridges of bone, all too-thin pale limbs, all open sores on top from the places the venom had splattered and on the bottom where the rock had rubbed away the flesh. The man's face, directly below the snake's mouth, had gotten the worst of it; it was raw and red, glistening with blood and exposed muscle and the slick of poison. The man shouldn't have been alive, much less moving, and yet he was- was thrashing weakly in his bonds, turning his head as far as it would go to avoid the white liquid as it dribbled down. It was not far enough.
Tony thought he was going to be sick again.
Norsekink prompt: In the comics we have different versions of how Loki arrived in Asgard. Odin tells us that he found baby!Loki and he adopted him after killing Laufey.
Loki tells us that he was found. But then he tells us that he was kid!Loki and he knew what was happening because adult!Loki came back in time to ensure it.
That's what happened: A traumatic event to kid!Loki. And that's the reason Loki's story always changes, because he cannot remember it and so he makes it up.
In fact one of Odin's warrior molested/abused him (ok, no descriptions or nothing graphic, please) and so Odin decided to adopt the kid and exile the warrior.
Now: After years, the warrior comes back from his exile because of something heroic he has done.
Loki meets him and remembers everything.
I am evil, I know. I just want traumatized!Loki following Thor everywhere because he is scared and finally telling his brother what happened.
And then angry-protective!Thor happens.
Directly post-Avengers. Thor knows that Loki has commited great crimes, but he doesn't want the man he's called "brother" his whole life to be cast out or put to death. Fortunately, there's a solution: if he strips Loki of his magic and declares him to be his personal slave, lowest of the low, the Aesir will be satisfied. Especially when it's well-known what "personal slave" is a eupemism for. If that solution just happens to coincide with Thor's own desire to have Loki by his side, then Thor can only hope that his feelings are returned. Unfortunately, Loki only sees it as yet another awful layer in the role he's forced to play.
Thor wants to save Loki's life. Loki wants to live. In the meantime, the chains that are binding Loki's magic are killing him. Literally.
There were days when the sun was so cruel that my tears turned to dust and I knew my eyes were drying up forever
Loki is taken back to Asgard for his punishment, of which Thor has to be a witness. Shocked and disgusted by the way his brother is treated, he decides to break him out of his cell and bring him to Midgard, hoping to stay by his side as Loki heals.
Destiny, however, has other plans, and things take a vastly different turn.
Loki is brought back to Asgard, but that hardly means a closure for anyone involved.
On the anniversary of Loki's birth, a feast is held in Father's hall. This, he thinks, is as it should be: this is as it is every year, with lively music on the harp, with men and women dancing, with all his favorite foods. Except this year the foods are not the ones he prefers, after all, but those favored by his brother. And the music is not harp music but the blaring of horns. And when Father calls attention to the assembled throng to give a speech for the occasion, he does not mention Loki at all.
He proclaims the meal in honor of Thor's prowess as a warrior. He announces that the firstborn prince has bested his training instructor this day.
The boar meat, spicy and rich on Loki's tongue, is suddenly tasteless. He puts his fork down amidst the wave of applause that floods the hall; he watches as his brother, golden and triumphant, stands to accept his congratulations. The child thinks, perhaps, that this is some ruse. His family, too, scold him for his pranks, and perhaps they have decided to show him what it is like to be on the receiving end.
But the jest, if jest it is, grows long.
In the weeks before Thor's coronation, Loki almost dies, not once, but twice. (An AU in which events conspire to keep Loki from the choices he made in Thor, a war is on the horizon and the chosen battlefield is Earth, and the Avengers assemble with an extra teammate and one less villain to fight).
"When much is taken, something is returned." - Terry Pratchett, Nation
Loki falls. Injured and unable to access his magic, he must struggle to restore himself physically and mentally before the Bifrost is repaired and Asgard comes to find him. That would be difficult enough, but one of Asgard's deepest secrets has followed him...
Written for a prompt at the Avengers kink meme. Post-movie. Thor brings Loki back to Asgard, where he is forced to breed with monsters as punishment for his crimes.
