YELP is a classic example of a user-review-driven social media company.
Is this the new mafia?
Look for "Real Name", "Amazon Verified Purchase", and you can always click on a person's name to see their other reviews.
Cnet has been doing this for a long time and is respected!
PC Magazie has also been doing this a long time and can be trusted.
ConsumerSearch pulls reviews together from all over the internet.
Epinions are not reviews from experts, but from "power hobbyists". These tend to be incredibly detailed and helpful because they are reviewed by "consumers", NOT professional testers.
JD Power reviews the quality of companies. These reviews are more helpful for analyzing smaller companies than larger, diversified companies.
Consumer Reports is the Grandaddy of all! They charge a monthly fee, but will not be intimidated. They are loyal to their customers and NOT the companies.
I will NOT purchase anything that costs more than $500 without purchasing a monthly membership!
