  • Common Knowledge- Significance paragraph

There are many reasons why this day was crucial to economic and political instability. After the attacks, the New York Stock Exchange had to shut down for four days. The ideas of war and instability made that time very insecure in terms of stock market investing. European and Asian stock markets also put up with heavy loss. As for the airline industry, it was heavily affected. It was also shut dow for many days and greater security was enforced once reopened. Moving on to the political aspect of how the attacks of September 11 made huge instability in political relations. George W. Bush, President of the United States of America at the time of the attacks recognized this as an act or war and so, had to be responded to with a war on terrorism. Afghanistan, the Taliban country which was seen as a big supporter to terrorism, was seen as a big threat that had to be dealt with. The U.S. along with Great Britain started mobilizing troops to mov into the Taliban regime of Afghanistan. Members of Al-Qaeda were captured during the operation as well as a new Afghani government being set up. Another great political act was the invasion of Iraq in 2003 by U.S. soldiers. The attacks of September 11 sparked the invasion two years after the attacks happened. A look back at history helps knowing why this was such a huge spark. In August of 1990, Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait claiming that it is Iraq's nineteenth province. After Saddam's invasion, the U.S. voted to go to war against Iraq unless if they do not withdraw their forces from Kuwait. The United States stopped at the border in Iraq when Kuwait is liberated in 1991. No fly zones and UN inspectors to insure there was no weapons of mass destruction were the points of cease-fire. Looking back at that history, in 2002, President Bush gave the Axis of Evil speech in which accused Iraq of being an enemy country long with Iran and North Korea. In 2003, Operation Iraqi freedom takes place in which U.S. troops were sent into Iraq being influenced by the events of 9/11 and therefore the Axis of Evil speech. The troops in Iraq finally go out in 31st December, 2011.

  • Conclusion- draft

The attacks on World Trade Center and the Pentagon are very crucial to how the world changed. The United States launched a whole war against terrorism that includes the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan. There are many views and multiple reasons why the invasion of Iraq took place. Other than the political effect, there was economic effects too in which the stock market was greatly affected and shut down for a couple of days. Also airline companies shut down for some time and security has been tightened. This day, September eleventh really changed the world.
