Easy webpage creation tool useful for any student or staff wanting to create a web page or even a small website. Supports Javascript/Flash and would be useful for students opting to complete an artistic version of an assignment rather than a term paper who want to use the web to create/share a piece of work. Pages don't expire & they won't be automatically deleted unless they violate the terms of use. Great because you don't have to be an expert in web design to use this little tool!

Voice Thread is a tool to enable students & faculty to create and interact with online presentations. Faculty can use VoiceThread to create new forms of conversations online. This looks like it would be an effective solution for faculty needing to be away from their classroom to interact with students & continue to teach their courses. Also would be useful in moving in the direction of distance education, particularly for mature students. (Present to the Lead Team/Academic Dean for consideration. Nominal yearly fee in several variations, including individual instructor access-this would be useful for a trial run.

Kind of an interesting site for a Bible College student (Intro to the Bible students?). Not necessarily all videos will be in agreement with Bethany College theology, but an unique project by the University of Nottingham's Department of Theology and Religious Studies in collaboration with video journalist Brady Haran. This is a collection of academic insights into each book of the Bible which is not meant to be comprehensive, but could quite possibly provide a template for a student or faculty member to undertake a similar project with a perspective that is uniquely ours. Good for discussion starting/teaching critical viewing & useful especially as a teacher multimedia resource.

Copy-right friendly pathfinder page for various forms of media from wikispaces.com which is run by Tangient LLC. ( Eric Ablett, Dominick Bellizzi, Ryan Bowse, James Byers, Sarah Cove, Max Dobrusin, Adam Frey, Jeff Hanke, Ryan Koopmans, Julie Newcomb, and Carole Snitzer.) This is a sizable collection of media with "generous copyright licensing" although one needs to verify the actual terms of use for anything they intend to make use of. I can see this being an excellent source of media in a variety of settings from assignments to committee work to use in posters & brochures produced by the college.

    Explanation of Creative Commons licensing

  • Jan 10, 13

Slideshow explaining what Creative Commons licensing is. Based on a talk given by Lila Bailey, OER Fellow at Hewlett Foundation, at a Leadership 3.0 symposium in Santa Clara, CA. It clearly presents how copyright works & how Creative Commons allows a copyright holder to share creativity & knowledge with others while still retaining copyright ownership. This simplifies & standardizes granting copyright permissions without the copyright holder having to answer every request personally. This would be useful in helping students understand/interpret Creative Commons licensing symbols and be in compliance with copyright law as well as helping them utilize Creative Commons licensing with their own creative endeavours. Faculty would benefit from taking in this tutorial as well, both from a pedagogical perspective as well as a personal one.
