Asmā bint Marwān (Arabic: عصماء بنت مروان, namely "'Asmā the daughter of Marwān") was a female poet who lived in Hijaz in medieval Arabia. According to a narrative from Ibn Ishaq's Sirah Rasul Allah, Asma wrote poems attacking the Islamic prophet Muhammad supporting murdering him. Allegedly, the people got frustrated and they killed her.
This incident has been one of the more inconvenient ones to which jihad apologists have found hard to refute, as the account of the incident came from the earliest Islamic history source materials (Ibn Ishaq's "Sirah Rasul Allah" and Al-Tabari's "Tarikh al-Umam wa'al-Muluk") that were compiled by well-respected Muslim scholars themselves.
