Today at 1130AM is the first installment in the Lunch and Learn series called “Now What: A 6 Part Entrepreneurial Survival Guide” presented by Lava Row and 48Web.

Now this series is like someone dumping about 24 units of entrepreneurship classes on you in 6 weeks (without the thousands of bucks leaving your wallet!) Imagine the value of the networking alone! (A a little birdie tells me there are gobs of well connected folks attending.) Rewind about 72 hours ago where I was chatting with Daniel Shipton and Adam Steen about the HUGE impact this series could have on lives around Des Moines with so much “Corporate Carnage” leaving people’s lives in its wake.

Iowa Floods. Another all-in-one resource site created by a Des Moines consulting firm, 48Web. Created in early June in response to the extensive and devastating floods in Iowa, the site captures all flood-related online communications in one place- Twitter, YouTube, blogs, Flikr and general news. The site became a popular resource for residents in the Iowa area and is yet another great example on how social media is transforming and being used most efficiently and effectively in times of need.

Nathan: I know that a lot of people in Des Moines have experimented with podcasting in the past, but Andy Brudtkuhl and Doug Mitchell stand out as the ones who have aggressively gone after it for a sustained period of time with their Managing The Edge business podcast. They've had a lot of success with that. I'd love to see more Des Moines entrepreneurs get their voice out there (literally) by creating podcasts, and sticking to it over time.
