June 7, 2006, Deseret News, Letters, Why do baptisms offend?, by Robert Burton,
Katherine Quist uses her letter (Readers' Forum, June 5) to attack Howard Anderson's supposed ignorance. She never addresses his question, "Why do baptisms offend?"If another religion wants to perform religious rites for my dead ancestors, they are more than welcome. I don't think their rites will do my ancestors any good, but I could be wrong. The Israeli ambassador seems to think the indignation over Mormon baptisms for dead Jews is silly. Perhaps it is limited to a small, quaint group.
