what is a person?
a combination of a body and something else.
mind is separate from/distinct from the body/a soul.
proper metaphysical understanding of the mind is to think of it in non physical terms.
dualist: 2 components. body and soul
alternative view: monist/physicalism: one basic kind of thing. bodies. a fancy body, but just a body.
(he will not be going into either of these)
or idealism: there are souls but no bodies.
or mind and body are just different ways of interpreting the same thing
