• First of all, there is a fragment of Mark, and it’s a very small fragment, not too many verses, but it’s definitely from Mark. And the most amazing thing about this is that it’s from the 1^st Century. We don’t have any other New Testament manuscripts that are written within the same century that the Gospels and the rest of the New Testament were written in. This is the first.

• The Hindu Students Council has shown appreciation of the appropriation of Hinduism, including Holi and the Color Run. It has looked positively (from what I can tell of my friends involved with it) to the connecting of the Tufts Mascot to the Hindu god Ganesh. Considering that, it surely believes that if someone decides to appropriate Hindu symbols, the more power to them — there is no central authority to set the beliefs, and differences in beliefs are a part of the accepting bosom of the religion.

• Boot-up times were reasonably quick -- about 27 seconds by my stopwatch -- but not as fast as on an SSD laptop like the Samsung Series 9 or MacBook Air. The Vaio T woke from sleep more rapidly, taking about 3 seconds. It's still a zippy machine, even if its boot times don't rock your socks off.

• The proposed used marketplace would work similarly to Amazon’s Kindle e-book lending process. Currently if a publisher grants Amazon the rights, when a Kindle customer “buys” a book, they have the option to loan the access rights to that digital file to friends or family that are also Kindle users. While the book is on loan, the original owner of the book is unable to access the e-book on any Kindle device. It’s still on those devices, but the access rights to the book have been transferred temporarily to the person with the loaned e-book.

• Applying    proper web writing and formatting    techniques is crucial in communicating with teens. Display content in small, meaningful chunks with plenty of white space. Small chunks help students retain information and pick up where they left off after the inevitable interruptions of text messages and phone calls.
• If your site targets a broad audience, aim to    write at a 6th-grade reading level    (or lower).

• Think twice before you develop that super-cool widget. If it’s slow or buggy, forget it. Teens won’t have the patience for it.
• Teenagers like to do stuff on the Web. They dislike sites that are slow or that look fancy but behave clumsily.
• Facilitate sharing but don’t force it. Teens rely on technology for social communication, but they don't want to be social all the time. They do want to control what they share and how they share it. Sites that force teens to register and then automatically make the profile public on the site violate trust.
• When offering sharing options, make sure to include email. Unlike college students, teens often prefer using email to share content as they’re more protective of their social accounts and cautious about who sees their activities.
• eens often work on laptops with track pads, making interactions that require precision — such as drop-down menus, drag-n-drop, and small buttons — difficult. Design elements such as rollover effects and small click zones are also problematic, if they’re usable at all. Small text sizes and dense text make reading difficult. Combine these elements with poor ergonomics and you have a prescription for fatigue and errors.

• on a series of personality traits that are typically understood as gender-specific, men and women overlap far more than many people and most network TV shows would like to believe.
• What's remarkable about all this is not that men and women have so much in common but that these commonalities persist despite relentless gender policing that usually involves quite a bit of shame.

• Because a superstar in the NBA is worth way, way more than any other team sport. An NBA superstar plays almost all game, on both ends of the floor and alongside only four players. The Yankees thought Alex Rodriguez was worth an annual $27.5 million even though he gets up to bat only once every nine turns, doesn't pitch and fields maybe a handful of grounders a game.

• If you get a tribe primarily by trashing faithful Christians with whom you simply disagree on secondary matters, then you are a member of the pajama-hadeen.
• Sadly, those who don’t have a tribe can easily form a tribe by simply declaring a World Wide Web war on someone who does have a tribe.

• Beyonce was on stage only because powerful people  – e.g., those who produce the Super Bowl – decided that it was in their best interest to grant her access.
• The black women who were light-skinned and/or possessed European features were deemed attractive/valuable and became “house niggers,” more “powerful” slaves who worked closely with the master in his home
• Of course, this was a false power because the beauty associated with it was entirely defined by the white master and because those who were granted it were often subjected to rape and other forms of abuse.
