Haystack Home
- Haystack is a tool designed to let individuals manage all their information in ways that make the most sense to them. By removing arbitrary barriers created by applications that handle only certain information "types" and that record only a fixed set of relationships defined by the developer, we aim to let users define whichever arrangements of, connections between, and views of information they find most effective. Such personalization of information management will dramatically improve everyone's ability to find what they need when they need it. - ycc2106 on 2006-04-11

XDI (XRI Data Interchange)
-
XDI and RDF are both meta-data (data about data) technologies designed to enhance the identification of data on the Web for improved searching. XDI speaks of the "Dataweb," while RDF's goal is the "Semantic Web." In fact, they both point to the same idea of intelligent Web page description. However, while both XDI and RDF are designed to identify Web pages, XDI also provides a high-level directory service with synonyms and persistent naming as well as an automatic data synchronization service (see RDF).

nterchange) An emerging OASIS standard for a high-level directory, data exchange and data synchronization service on the Internet. XDI is designed to do two things: to improve searching on the Web and to provide an automatic data updating service. XDI is based on XRIs (Extensible Resource Identifiers), made up of human-friendly "e-names" and machine-oriented "e-numbers." XDI also introduces two new service organizations: "XDI registrars" for name registration and "XDI service providers" for data synchronization.
vote-links - Microformats
-
Specification
VoteLinks is an elemental microformat, one of several microformat open standards. We propose a set of three new values for the rev attribute of the (hyperlink) tag in HTML.
The new values are "vote-for" "vote-abstain" or "vote-against", which are mutually exclusive, and represent agreement, abstention or indifference, and disagreement respectively.
A link without an explicit vote 'rev' value is deemed to have value "vote-for" or "vote-abstain", depending on the application.
Additional human-readable commentary can be added using the existing 'title' attribute, which most browsers show as a rollover.
Examples:

Swoogle Semantic Web Search Engine
-
Swoogle is designed to serve the research activities in Semantic Web community, especially the following:
to study the growth and evolution of the semantic web by efficiently querying a comprehensive database of SWD metadata - to collect, index and search the definition and usage of Semantic Web Terms (SWTs) (i.e. Classes and Properties) as well corresponding Semantic Web Ontologies (SWOs) - to enable "distributed" knowledge sharing by making knowledge visible and easy to access - to support semantic web tools such as MindSwap Lab's SWOOP ontology editor in finding relevant ontologies, KSL's Inference Web infrastructure in finding distributed proofs. - ycc2106 on 2006-04-11 - specialized web search engine that discovers, analyzes and indexes knowledge encoded in semantic web documents published on the Web. - ycc2106 on 2006-04-11
Gnowsis - gnowsis
- Semantic Desktop environment published by the Knowledge Management Lab of the DFKI. Gnowsis is a reference implementation of parts of the Nepomuk Semantic Desktop framework. - ycc2106 on 2006-08-15
OpenID: an actually distributed identity system
- An OpenID identity is just a URL. You can have multiple identities in the same way you can have multiple URLs. All OpenID does is provide a way to prove that you own a URL (identity). And it does this without passing around your password, your email address, or anything you don't want it to. There's no profile exchange component at all: your profiile is your identity URL, but recipients of your identity can then learn more about you from any public, semantically interesting documents linked thereunder (FOAF, RSS, Atom, vCARD, etc.). - ycc2106 on 2006-06-23

MicroID - Small Decentralized Verifiable Identity
- MicroID is a new Identity layer to the web and Microformats that allows anyone to simply claim verifiable ownership over their own pages and content hosted anywhere. The technology is radically simple and capable of empowering new and unique meta services with only minor effort. - ycc2106 on 2006-07-22

toxi.co.uk :: vCard/LDIF -> FOAF converter/editor/generator v0.3
- The "Friend Of A Friend" (FOAF) project is part of the Semantic Web initiative to describe human relationships in a machine readable form. Each person's profile contains a number of personal information together with brief descriptions of their friends and aquaintances. - ycc2106 on 2006-05-25
Semanlink - Semanlink Home Page
- Semanlink is a personal information management system based on RDF. It lets you add tags, as well as other RDF metadata, to files, bookmarks and short text notes that it allows to write. Providing a simple way to organize the tags in a graph, it allows you to incrementally define the vocabulary you use when annotating documents with metadata. - ycc2106 on 2006-05-24
ROR - Structured Feeds, Content, Blogging
- ROR (Resources of a Resource) is a rapidly growing independant XML format for describing any object of your content in a generic fashion, so any search engine can better understand that content. RORweb.com is the official ROR website. - ycc2106 on 2006-05-20
