Interesting report provided the viewpoint you want is that of the F500. The challenges that face SMBs and foreign entrepreneurs in China are massive, arguably more indicative of the regulatory climate as a whole, and are largely ignored by groups like AmCham and the U.S. China Business Council.
There are good articles about the internet in China, and there are great articles about the internet in China. This, sadly, is neither. Rather than provide a nuanced view of why local internet companies do well in China and why the foreigners fail, the authors go instead for the Single-Factor Soft Kill: those darn protectionist Chinese.

To what extent are companies willing to bend over backwards and twist themselves into pretzels to sell their products in China? This depressing article makes it quite clear: they will do anything and everything, even if China’s demands are in clear violation of the WTO.
