Let's start with the easiest trick to turn the Apple TV into a media monster: extending the storage capacity
Put all your content (all that will fit anyway) on the removable drive.
drag all that content into iTunes.
before you drag the media press the option key. iTunes will add the music/movies/TV shows to your library but not copy the files.
As long as keep iTunes running your computer you can set your Apple TV to share the library. Once it is shared, all your media goes with it.
How well does the streaming work? Over a G network there is a very short pause, between two and three seconds, after you select a movie and the time it starts playin
one of the complaints about the Apple TV is that it isn't a PVR (personal video recorder)
grab TVShows. TVShows is a torrent tracker
find a long list of shows you can subscribe to

With folder actions, Automator and maybe AppleScript you can get these shows added automatically
But you still want DVDs on you Apple TV, right?
grab Handbrake and start ripping away
If you simply leave iTunes running on the main Mac, AppleTV can pick the movies up right off the Mac.

we still don't know if "Dolby 5.1" means "Dolby Digital 5.1" (AC3, like on a DVD) or "Dolby's AAC with 5.1 channels, converted to AC3 and send over the optical out in real time"....
The latter would be better for HB, as it already does AAC 5.1 and it's standards-compliant. While AC3 would mean they're moving back to .mov, as .mp4 doesn't really support AC3.
AC3 is not part of the MP4 standard, which is a matter of ISO politics more than technicalities -- .mov, of which .mp4 is a subset, supports AC3 fine.
If HandBrake has to break the mp4 standard to have AC3 in it, that means those files probably won't be playable on other devices.
Apple TV content provided through the iTunes Store from day one has been in a MOV container rather than MP4...so why is anyone confused about how Apple "might handle this"? It will be AC3 in a MOV.
The question, if there is one, for the HandBrake team is to decide whether they would rather "bastardize" MP4 to support AC3 or whether they'd rather support output in a MOV container.
I'm putting money on the AppleTV using AAC with 5 channels in the .m4v file... same as the movie trailers from apple.com/movies

Why do I think this?
AC3 stream is too large to to transfer over interweb
Handbrake 0.9.1 can already output the following - AVC/H.264 Video/ AC-3 Audio. But it can only do this as a .mkv or .avi file. Why would it be so hard to do it as a .mov file?
My guess would be that Apple is just encoding the video as H.264 and "copying/attaching" the AC-3 audio to the resulting file.

first action you should take is to clean up and clean out your inbox.
once you've got folders set up to organize and archive your messages, and you've got a clean inbox, you simply need to establish a process and stick to it.
When checking e-mail, do your best to either respond, file, archive or delete every message you read when you first read it. If you don't do this things will tend to hang around in your inbox.
Check your mail 3-4 times a day instead of every 10 minutes.
I found that I spent WAY too much time "catching up" and sorting out a huge number of messages from my inbox. I took a hint from the way I do personal email with Gmail, and quit the folder madness.

Now I Keep all my current (i.e. newer than date ____) messages in one folder and search if I can't find something. I keep my inbox in threaded view, so I rarely have to search at all.

Make a mixture of 1 part white vinegar to 2 parts water. For a

Never use the coffee pot to pour water into the reservoir. This
will transfer oils and impurities from the pot, and eventually give
the coffee a nasty taste. Instead, use a pitcher that is reserved
for water only.
Never wash the coffee pot with soap. This will bind with the
oils deposited by the coffee and will leave a taste behind. Do not
wash in the dishwasher for the same reason.
