I had a site of mine get 10k hits from StumbleUpon in one day. Although I got a lot more clicks than usual, after it was over I had only made around $5 more than usual (for that day). The money people make probably varies widely.

that translates to an eCPM of $0.50. The site that I'm talking about has very relevant ads to the service that I'm providing, so the eCPM hovers between $2-$3.
(for those unfamiliar with this term, eCPM = $/thousand visitors. Doesn't mean much but it's a rough estimate of your site's income potential.)
