Microsoft Silverlight: Light Up the Web
Silverlight is Microsoft's effort to combat Adobe's Flash format in the webspace and make both Windows Media files as well as Microsoft applications like .NET compatible with Linux and Macintosh platforms, providing a Javascript front end and serving like a translator for those applications. (At least that's my understanding at this point.)
