Doctors rarely help terminally-ill patients to die, survey reveals - The Guardian 25th March 2009

Doctors very rarely help those who are terminally ill to die, and two in three oppose changing the law to allow them to do so, research reveals today.

In only one in 200 deaths have doctors given a drug with the explicit intention of speeding death, according to a survey by Clive Seale from Queen Mary University of London, which updates work in 2004.

Hope for millions of disabled people as scientists restore movement to paralysed limbs - Daily Mail 16th October 2008

Scientists have found a way to bypass spinal injuries and restore movement to paralysed limbs in an experiment that offers hope to millions of disabled people.

They have shown that it is possible to connect the brain directly to the muscles of a paralysed hand - and then use the 'power of thought' to move it.

Although the work has been carried out on monkeys, the American researchers believe it could be used by people within the next two decades.
