Colin Ross is much better now he’s completed his first course of the drug Revlimid. As Dr Kevin Boyd, his specialist at the Royal Marsden hospital predicted, the drug is having a dramatic effect on Ross’s cancer, multiple myeloma. His paraprotein levels – which indicate the rate of spread of the disease – have come down from 67 to five, which his partner, Wendy Forbes-Newbigin, calls “little short of a miracle”.

Dentists are calling patients back for routine appointments far sooner than they need to, in an effort to maximise profits, according to the Government's chief dental officer.
NHS dentists earn significantly more since new contracts were introduced in England two years ago but officials believe this could be because some are “playing the system”.
Research fear over Christie money - BBC Health News 13th October 2008
A cancer treatment centre, which invested £7.5m in an Icelandic bank, has said research could be jeopardised if it does not get its money back.
The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Withington, Manchester, invested the money with Kaupthing Singer and Friedlander (KSF) in May and July 2008.
