Disabled waiting for houses - Liverpool Echo 17th November 2008

MORE than 500 disabled people in Liverpool are living in unsuitable accommodation while they wait to be moved into housing that meets their needs.

The figure was revealed in a report which went before the council’s scrutiny committee.

Artificial fingers help a Southport guitarist play again - Southport Visiter 7th November 2008

A MUSICIAN who lost four fingers in a work accident is set to pick up his guitar on stage again after being fitted with artificial digits.

Father-of-two Neil Scallion, from Chester Road, Southport, faced the prospect of never again being able to play with his band The Blueshounds after losing fingers and part of his thumb four years ago in an accident involving a circular saw.

A disabled woman was barred from Marks & Spencer after getting stuck in the toilets at her local store.

Susan Curran, who suffers from cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair, says she was been made to feel like a criminal.
