Hospital doctors from abroad attract most complaints - The Times 23rd September 2009

Half the hospital doctors whose performances give rise to complaints qualified abroad before coming to work in the NHS, though they account for only a third of the workforce.

The report, by the National Patient Safety Agency, also shows that questions are more likely to be raised about older doctors and consultants than about younger medics and trainees. The referral rate for concerns about over-50s working in hospitals and the community is five times the rate among under-40s.
