Scientists have developed artificial bones made from bits of old wood.
The wooden bones are designed to be used as grafts in patients who need to replace parts of their own skeleton damaged by injury or disease.
Doctors plan to use tiny fragments of the fake bone to help stimulate the body's own repair process. Although the body can grow replacement bone after injury, the tiny cells and blood vessels that spring up need something to cling to.
