"A FORMER NHS Cumbria manager has received a leadership award after helping to save the lives of hundreds of smokers by encouraging them to quit.
Barbara Bellis increased the number of smokers accessing free NHS support to stop smoking by 20 per cent during 18 months as manager of Cumbria Stop Smoking Service. She has now retired from her post."

A Healthcare Commission probe found between 400 and 1,200 more people died than would have been expected at Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust over three years.
