Adding insult to injury for HIV victims - Lancashire Telegraph 3rd June 2009

IT seems almost cruel to criticise politicians at the moment. The phrase “they have suffered enough” comes to mind.

In the current climate our elected representatives have become such a soft target that attacking them does actually seem unfair.

The survival chances of many MPs are now on a par with them winning the lottery.

Lord Archer's report described the infection of thousands of haemophiliacs with hepatitis C and HIV as "a horrific human tragedy", adding: "Subsequent events have done little to alleviate the hurt of the victims or their families."

Commentary: After years of delay, the time has come to pay up - The Times 24th February 2009

It is a story from the realms of nightmare: the life-saving treatment that makes things worse, the new blood that could kill you. Haemophiliacs treated with “skid row” blood products in the distant 1970s and 1980s have lived with anxiety and misery ever since. Many have died; others have lost health, money and family security.
