AN appeal was made this week to trace any relatives or friends of Stephen Powers who died in Whiston Hospital.
Mr Powers, aged 53, of Springfield, Rainford in St Helens passed away on August 20.

REPORTED cases of swine flu across St Helens and the North West have fallen for the second week running.
Across England the number of cases fell to from 30,000 to 25,000 while in St Helens the GP consultation rate in St Helens for flu-like illness fell markedly from 374 per 100,000 population to 88.4.

I have a great deal of sympathy with the opinions expressed, being a blue badge holder myself, but I was incensed by the last comment 'I would think that most people working at a hospital would be fit and healthy'.

A FAMILY has won their long battle to have an inquest held into the death of their mother whose health deteriorated after she became dehydrated at Whiston Hospital.
Irene Seddon died five weeks after being admitted to the hospital suffering from a water infection shortly before Christmas 2005.

A WOMAN sparked a major police alert when she made threats to staff at a secure mental health unit while armed with two guns.
The 42-year-old from York targeted the Scott Clinic in Rainhill on Sunday evening. It has since emerged she was formerly a patient there.
Hospital to get GP surgery - St Helens Star 17th March 2009
HEALTH chiefs have given the go-ahead for a GPs’ surgery to open at the new St Helens Hospital later this year.
Sherdley Medical Centre will offer care to patients from Thatto Heath, Marshalls Cross and the surrounding area.
NHS St Helens says the new practice will be launched in September and offer more than 60 hours a week of medical care.
Hospital's rapid HIV tests - Warrington Guardian 16th March 2009
ST HELENS Hospital has introduced a rapid new HIV testing system that sees high risk patients given results within 30 minutes.\n\nPatients have a mouth swab or finger prick blood sample taken before being given the results within half an hour.\n\nNormally, a patient would have to wait a day before getting the results.
Adam gets pioneering cancer treatment - St Helens Star 24th February 2009
BRAVEHEART Adam Sandells is to undergo pioneering cancer treatment after visiting a private clinic in London.
The five-year-old, whose inspirational battle has featured on Star front pages, is suffering from the childhood cancer neuroblastoma and, with conventional treatment on the NHS having proved unsuccessful, Adam’s parents John and Christine have sought alternatives.
Foundations in place for £10m health centre - St Helens Star 27th January 2009
WORK is now underway on the construction of the £10m Lowe House Health Care Resource Centre - a development that aims to breathe new life into an area of St Helens town centre.
The facility will occupy the site at the corner of Oxford Street and Crab Street, and will house four GP Practices and a range of community-based health and social care facilities.
