Andy Burnham said that care for the elderly, and tackling the unfair costs that force many families to sell their homes and use up their savings, should be the priority issue on which people vote at the general election next year. Taking care out of hospitals and closer to people’s homes would be central to this vision. "

New era for children and young people's service - Altrincham Messenger 18th January 2009
A NEW multi agency service for Trafford is set to mark a new era for its children and young people’s service (CYPS).
The launch will take place at Sale Waterside Arts Centre on January 23 and will feature an exhibition of young people's creative artworks and a showcase of live performances by young groups, as well as an official charter signing.

Social services and police have been condemned for failing to stop a violent father who went on to murder his 11-week-old baby boy.
Courtney Bryan was well known to the authorities in Nottingham where he was involved in four families in which young children were seriously injured.
But a review of his case revealed there was a disastrous failure by social workers, police and health staff to communicate with each other.
Children's trusts 'not effective' - BBC Health News 29th October 2008
The children's trusts created by the government after the death of Victoria Climbie have made little difference to children's services, a report says.
The trusts, in England, were one of the recommendations made by an inquiry into the eight-year-old's death in 2003.
