Danny Palin, 67, the father of Nantwich first responder Gavin Palin, was paralysed from the waist down by a sudden illness. An ambulance was called at 6.02am."

A STUDENT midwife from Nantwich has delivered a petition demanding the Government funds more midwives to save the lives of mothers and babies.
Steph Webb, 20, of Chester Road, Acton, was one of 10 people chosen to travel to Downing Street on Thursday with the petition, which is signed by 30,000 midwives, health professionals and parents.

LEIGHTON Hospital at Crewe and its sister hospital, the Victoria Infirmary at Northwich, have retained their Investors in People (IIP) standard despite concern about staff morale.

HEALTH bosses are advising people in South Cheshire with the winter vomiting bug not to attend GP surgeries or A&E to avoid the risk of the virus spreading.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) North West is also urging people with the norovirus bug not to visit friends or relatives in hospitals or residential care homes and to stay away from work or school until they have recovered and been symptom-free for 48 hours.

BMX star Shanaze Reade has opened a new mental health resource centre in Crewe.
The Mill Street Centre, part of Cheshire and Wirral Partnership (CWP) NHS Foundation Trust, is for children and adolescents suffering from mental health problems and was unveiled by the Olympic finalist from Crewe as well as CWP deputy chairman Stephen McAndrew and young service users.

A WEBSITE hit as well as a medical success – that’s a team from Leighton Hospital, Crewe, which is due back home today after spending a week in the West African country of Ghana.
The team, led by consultant surgeon Magdi Hanafy, has been on Operation Hernia - a programme that carries out and teaches groin hernia surgery.
