These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth.

Despite this, some schools have reduced time spent on such instruction to provide remediation for students with limited literacy achievement (Center on Education Policy, 2007; Moje, 2008).
-
Even when adolescents' literacy needs are recognized and funding is provided to support students who are two years or more behind grade level, U.S. educators and policymakers seem wedded to a “fix-it” remedial mentality. If researched literacy interventions do not bring students to grade level within a year, educators and policymakers deem efforts an inadequate return on investment (Viadero, 2009).

For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. 4 For as in one body we have many members, [10] and the members do not all have the same function, 5 so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. 6 Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; 7 if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; 8 the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, [11] with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.

He will render to each one according to his works: 7 to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; 8 but for those who are self-seeking [7] and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury.

For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law who will be justified.

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. Give no offense to Jews or to Greeks or to the church of God, just as I try to please everyone in everything I do, not seeking my own advantage, but that of many, that they may be saved

In order to combat the rising tides of student disengagement and apathy, our educational systems must alter our practices and entertain a curricular infrastructure that has moral and ethical implications woven throughout so that values can be taught and restored.

Maybe because we have lost the importance of family and morals.

CI8132_1F9: Too Many Standards

eframing the question means not starting with the teacher but the student. We should ask ourselves what kind of student and what kind of learning we value? Then we must follow that up by determining what qualities, knowledge and understandings a teacher must have to produce that kind of student and learning.
CI8132_1F9: Reflection 3

As an educator who has both worked with teachers before they get evaluated by the system (designed around Danielson's framework) and as a teacher observed and evaluated by this system, I struggle with how little teachers gain from it professionally and how little it works to lead to improved teaching.

I question this because “bad” teaching is seemingly easy to define.

Like Gemma, I take issue with the notion that we can be truly objective in our evaluation of what constitutes excellence in teaching.

In fact, I believe part of the reason why there's such a trend toward charter schools is because of our flawed public system for the removal of teachers.
