  • At its core, we were solving a very simple problem which was a pain point for both of us: how do we manage and stay in touch with our IRL groups of friends?

  • The main idea behind the service is an app that attempts to make shopping more social. A user takes their phone into a store, launches the app, and starts scanning the barcodes of items they’re interested in. Doing so unlocks points and rewards such as dukedoms and kingships — yes, the Foursquare idea, but here it’s for product categories. More importantly, this scanning allows Barcode Hero to build up a database of information and will help them to personalize your shopping experience.
  • Obviously, all of this is to entice users to help Barcode Hero build out this recommendation service. But the app is also helpful because it provides price comparisons via a deal with PriceGrabber. This is in line with what a few other apps in the barcode scanning space do, such as Red Laser and ShopSavvy. But Crawford notes that they’re different because they’re mainly focused on the social aspect.

  • Just found out about 3Banana today and think this is a great web-app/service. I'm currently using evernote and find it more complex to use than 3B. I'm thinking of moving all my evernote's data to 3B.

Are there any way to do this other than copy/past each note to 3B? (not fun for 700+ notes)

  • I use 3B on my PC and on my Android phone. I usually use the PC to add notes, and my phone to read them while on the go. Some notes contain contact information like a phone number.
  • At the moment it's quite a hassle to use such a phone number: I have to memorize it, or write it down on a piece of paper. It would be great if I could click-and-hold the number, resulting in a pop up with options. I'd suggest two of those should be "call this number" and "add number to contact". The latter should result in a screen where I can select an existing contact, or add a new unlisted contact.

  • I'd like to be able to have a clean and tidy print view, so i can print all notes in a given category. At the moment the left side of the site always shows up, occupying a lot of space. A "Print these notes" link at the top or bottom of every page would be really helpfull.

On a sidenote: it would be even better if there where checkboxes next to every note, so I could select only those notes I'd like to print.
  • One of the key benefits of 3B is that you can view, add and edit notes on multiple platforms, as long as you have an internet connection. Why create a fixed state document?

  • It would be great to be able to email a note into 3bananas. I've used that functionality a lot with other note taking applications. 3bananas would make this even easier than competitor apps by being able to interpret the #tags within the subject/body text, compared to other apps where it is necessary to later log-in and manually add tags to emailed notes.
