It is unique in a pile of SPN vids, I promise you. What I said to the vidder: "I've figured out what I love so much about your vids: you combine the best of both worlds for me. You have the stunning visual beauty of youtube vidders, but the high-context, thoughtfulness of internet vidders. This, I think, is my favorite vid by you ever. It is so... perfect and unique. Evil Has Never Loved You, by Loki. I'm a sucker for evil!Sam vids, and as soon as I saw this one it immediately became a new fave. It's basically a super-intense and awesome look into Sam's evil psyche, as seen from Dean's POV.
vid rec: Little Lion Man
It feels like a long time since I really cared about Supernatural. Lately I've spent a lot of time just wanting to punch Kripke in the face, rather than finding myself emotionally invested. But killabeez vidded the boys to Little Lion Man by Mumford & Sons, a song I'd never heard before but fell instantly in love with. I love this vid. I love this vid in huge, embarrassing, heart-clutching, sparkly-hearts in the margins kind of ways. I love the song and I love the editing and I love the way it lets me actually give a damn about the Winchester brothers again."

Circus (Star Trek XI; Kirk), by butterfly . Summary: Kirk's a "put on a show" kind of girl (oh, you know he is). Yes, I agree. This vid is made of so much bouncy fun and it cheers me every time. I have it on my desktop to watch when I need a pick me up or I want to see NU!Kirk bleed prettily. A Charming Man (Supernatural; Castiel), by [info]giandujakiss . Summary: Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Awesomely haunting. The song is incredible for the spn characters. I just stared with my mouth hanging open, srsly.

"I’ve Fallen Quite Hard Over You by onlyndreams85 (SPN, Castiel/Dean, music: Coffee Shop by Landon Pigg) – I’m not really a Castiel/Dean shipper but this vid sure knows how to use all those “long romantic looks” Misha was talking about at Asylum. All in all, this is a very nice and satisfying vid that gives you a pretty good idea of why Castiel/Dean is a pretty good idea…and it’s sad and heart-breaking and aww… Missing by passionstorm (ST:XI, Kirk/Spock, music by Evanescence) – There aren’t all that many ST:Reboot vids around yet and from those I’ve seen I liked this one the most. In a way, the vid even makes me like Kirk more than I actually do. I reallyreallyreally like this Spock anyway, no question there. Dante’s Prayer ... a while ago I read something on Henry Jenkins’ blog that kinda stuck with me. He was talking about that one episode or movie, which is also used in this vid, and I don’t know whether it’s him who said it or whether he was repeating someone else’s words but he said that slash is what happens when you take the glass away and he was referring to that one scene and you’d know which scene if you could watch the vid! Oh good Lord, YES!! I know fuck all about TOS or the movies but this vid? Pure slash!! OMG, I was grinning so hard and I might have clapped my hands too a couple of times... *g*"

And then, after the [Serenity], I downloaded obsessive24's brilliant, scary-awesome, sort of subversive Mal/River vid "Body," because it's all of those things I said. And then I went on a bit of a spree and discovered she'd also done an SPN s1-4 vid to MGB's "Fall of Man" (embedded in linked entry; Dean and Castiel character stuff and Dean/Castiel, but not romantical-like), and then I watched that, and then I died. It's so good (because it's one of my favourite MGB songs, and because Nicky is stupid talented, and because it's like nine different things I could never put into meta, and because the Ayn Rand bit they quote is one of the reasons I can't completely write off Ayn Rand). SIGH.

Rebellion (Lies, Lies) by mithborien (Sam/Dean) Wow, wow, wow. This is absolutely gorgeous. I am in love with everything about this video. The use of movement, color, light, music, visual parallels (if you know me, you know I'm a sucker for some good visual parallels). Someone commented that at the end they let out a breath they hadn't realized they'd been holding. Yeah, that. I've fallen behind in the show because I lost interest a bit. I think this video has single-handedly reignited my love for Supernatural. I guess I better go catch up now. A round-robin vid project! A total of 7 different vidders each got 30 seconds of the song to make, without collaborating with one another, then it was all put together. sisabet and sockkpuppett, Women's Work. This is still my favorite Supernatural vid of all time. And also the one that I feel offers the most accurate depiction of canon. sweetestdrain, Lagrimas. Supernatural is Mary's nightmare, take one: S1-S2. mithborien, The Devil's Inside My Head. Supernatural is Mary's nightmare, take two: S1-S4. sweetiejen, We Are Mice. Strikingly parallels Ruby and Bela's journeys in Season 3. proofpudding, So in Love with the Wrong World (Bela). I didn't think there was enough footage for a Bela vid, but proofpudding makes it work, illustrating both the obvious parallels between Bela and Dean and the heartbreaking differences. (Also, this vid introduced me to Florence and the Machine, who are probably my favorite musical discovery of the year. That voice! Florence is fucking amazing. The same song was used for a very different video by di_br, Darkening World (Merlin, Guinever and Morgana), which isn't as successful in pulling all its different pieces together but has compelling individual sections.) 0mindthegap0, Our Time (Ruby). Honestly, this is not how I saw Ruby in Season Four, but damn, I wish it was. Because she is snarky and kick-ass and fucking better than you.
