Fic, rec & be fannish...
Circus (Star Trek XI; Kirk), by butterfly . Summary: Kirk's a "put on a show" kind of girl (oh, you know he is). Yes, I agree. This vid is made of so much bouncy fun and it cheers me every time. I have it on my desktop to watch when I need a pick me up or I want to see NU!Kirk bleed prettily. A Charming Man (Supernatural; Castiel), by [info]giandujakiss . Summary: Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Awesomely haunting. The song is incredible for the spn characters. I just stared with my mouth hanging open, srsly.

sequentialcrack: Vid Rec: Incomplete by ellyr_in_ink
Incomplete by ellyr_in_ink. Avengers. Steve Rogers/Tony Stark. Spoilers: Marvel Civil War. This is one of the best done motion comic music vids I've ever seen. If Civil War broke your heart before, this will have you in tears. Ellyr_in_ink weaves a heartbreaking and compelling story about Steve and Tony relationship, love, and painful fall out that happened over SHRA.
His Girl Thursday - Vid Rec: Let it Take You
I truly love this vid. It's thoughtful, complex, breathtaking, and uses its soundtrack(s) in such an innovative way. She calls it AU, and I get that: it builds on the SPN s4 narrative, but takes a step back outward, reconstructing the SPN narrative but starting at the point we don't get to *see* in the show itself. It weaves in external footage and in so doing creates a sense of careening scope, as you think of how everything looks from Castiel's perspective, from the beginning, breaking Dean out of hell. And then it... well, I don't want to spoil you, but it makes a musical and visual and emotional transition that just stops me in my tracks every time. Just thinking about it gives me chills! And then its conclusion is so pregnant with meaning, but doesn't demand one interpretation. This vid both challenges and gently guides the viewer.
I think the most striking thing about this vid is its style, the pacing, the intercutting. It's stylish, emotional, exciting. It actually reminds me a little bit of another vid-like sequence that I've also been meaning to make a post about--the True Blood credits--which make me shush anyone who is speaking to me every time they're on.
So yes, go, watch, feedback: Let it Take You
Rach - All the way to the end, all the way to the end
"I hereby give you this finale-centric Vid of the Day, created by EVG4815. It does a lovely job of touching on the emotionally satisfying aspect of the finale that I mentioned above. It's also making me start to get all teary again. *sniff* "
Rach - Fall TV, welcome back into my life
"For my Vid of the Day I'm going to pimp a favorite of mine that I haven't talked much about on here before: Veronica Mars. [A Perfect Sonnet, youtube]
logovo1: Vid Rec: SPN, "A Charming Man"
Completamente adoro este vid y lo he visto una y otra vez. A Charming Man de [info]giandujakiss. Este es un vid que aparte de dejarme tumbada con su ritmo de edición y juego con los tiempos de la cinta, me ha presentado una canción que no conocía, The Wondersmith and His Sons de Astronautalis. Wow.
Mad House - Twittering the night away!
New Nine/Rose vid! :) bit.ly/TiMAU Nine needs more love in the Who fandom...

amber: VID RECS POST I
Don't Stop Believing - arefadedaway. Kirk/Spock. My favourite vid to come out of this fandom. It has such a beautiful, feel-good, positive message and I cannot count the amount of times I have watched it just for a quick boost when I was feeling down. This vid is made of joy. Radar - bionic. Kirk/Spock. I was left going "wow, those two kinda... look at each other a lot." This vid tells a story that wasn't told by the movie, in the way that only quality transformative works can, and it tells it well. I love the perfect timing of Kirk's shoulder slap and Spock's glance after him. Circus - butterfly. This vid is a bundle of clever, well-timed fun. I love fics which is just the crew of the Enterprise having fun in space, and I think this is the visual equivalent? It demonstrates fantastically Kirk's leadership abilities, his ability to draw the best out of those around him, and the way he and his crew's love for the ship they're running binds them together. DW/TW: Don't Hold Back - by seduff. TenRose. This vid has won a lot of awards, and for damn good reason. It works well as a primer to the Tenth Doctor and to New Who as a whole. It uses some absolutely stunning and very tricksy visual affects; I love the mix of the original videoclip for the song in with the footage; the transposing of that onto the televisions in Doctor Who; the way the images appear in the time-stream from the pocket-watch; the way footage from all over the series is combined with no jarring; the way the lyrics and editing re-contextualizes clips... ugh, it's just genius. Handlebars - flummery. This vid overwhelms me with emotions every single time. A very clever, honest look at the Tenth incarnation of the Doctor, from his ridiculous and jokey side, to his passion and lonliness, right through to his arrogance and potential for mass genocide. When he lifts his hands with the flames roaring behind him, I cry every single time. Every single bit of this vid is perfect; the use of footage to match the lyrics is pretty much hilarious, and it encapsul

For No Angel Surely Would. SPN. Dean, Castiel, and Anna. I love this trend toward using very unconventional audio for vids - the vidder uses the audio here to pretty amazing effect.

Handlebars, by such_heights. Gorgeous dark vid examining the, er, slightly less-than-sane politics of life and death in Camelot. It's a wonderfully cogent bit of critique.
slash_sluts_recs | Vid Rec: I'm Gonna Getcha Good by Nicole
I'm Gonna Getcha Good by bleeding_muse. Stargate: SG1. Daniel/Vala. I've always loved the idea of Daniel/Vala. She's just so wild and he's so quiet and restrained most of the time. She knocks him out of his comfort zone and makes him feel. Drives him right up the wall crazy and yet they can both be so tender to each other at times. She'd make a great wife/best friend for him. This vid highlights just how cute and crazy their relationship is and how determined Vala is to make Daniel hers.
slash_sluts_recs | Vid Rec: Stairway to Heaven by Kirsten
Stairway to Heaven by _the_masterplan. Supernatural. The instrumental version of Stairway to Heaven is a little odd, I kept expecting to hear Robert Plant, but the vid is awesome. It shows the evolution of Castiel throughout the whole season. It's really well put together and I enjoyed it immensely.
slash_sluts_recs | Vid Rec: Change the World by talitha78
Change the World by talitha78. Smallville. I have been a Clark/Lois shipper since I saw the Superman movie in the 1970's with Chris Reeve and Margot Kidder. It's endured the Lois and Clark tv show and Smallville. It's not new. I love this vid and the moments between Lois and Clark, he's blindness and her growing love for him. My favorite thing about this Lois is she loved Clark first, she may have the hots for The Red Blue Blur, but her heart is set on Clark the guy. When she realizes they are one in the same she's going to latch onto him and good.
slash_sluts_recs | Vid Rec: Dr. Love by talitha78
Dr. Love by talitha78. Star Trek 2009. I seriously have a crush on Karl Urban, it's been going strong since seeing the new Star Trek movie for the first time several months ago. Leonard "Bones" McCoy was always my favorite character from TOS and that hasn't changed. I loved Karl in the movie so much. He didn't ruin Bones for me. Made him even better in some ways. This vid is funny and makes me totally happy. It's the only vid I have saved on my computer. So that should tell you how much I love it.
slash_sluts_recs | Vid Rec: That's not my name by talitha78
That's not my name by talitha78. Smallville. My love for Smallville still goes strong. I can't wait for the new season to start. I might think Clark is a major dumbass sometimes, but I still love him. This vid shows all the facets of Clark good and bad as we've seen him grow over time. I can't believe how young he looked when he was first on the show. I adore the vid as much as I do Clark.
slash_sluts_recs | Vid Rec: O Death by Loki
O Death by secretlytodream. Supernatural. This is an amazing vid that shows Sam and Dean and their struggles through season 4. The boys truly live and die for one another and the whole world goes out of whack when they are at odds. This vid really depicts that well. I really can't say enough about how moving it is.
