"Near to You" by abstractvmilk. Ten/Rose; Ten II/Rose. This vid is in the tradition of the story-telling genre, so it seems appropriate to rec here. *grin* In the words of the vidder: After Bad Wolf Bay, Rose return(s) home with a man she barely (knows). As time passes the Doctor(Human) shows Rose how to fall in love again. I really think that this is a vid worth watching because it tells the intended story quite well and the editing is very effective in conveying the emotion of the song. It is simply a lovely vid that blends a variety of sources(not all clips are from Doctor Who) into a sweet Doctor Who story.

To start us off, here's the winner of Supernatural.tv's October Pop Music Fan Vid Challenge! It's by Jessica Rae, and it's awesome - the story of All Hell Breaks Lose 1+2 set to the song 'Haunted' by Kelly Clarkson. Jessica Rae is a fantastic vidder, here's another of her masterpieces - this time it's What Is And What Should Never Be set to Avril Lavigne's 'Innocence'. It's her own favorite, and it's epic. You may want to have a box of tissues handy... After so much emo whump, I think it's time for a vid dedicated to the brother's heroism. Song - of course - is 'Holding out for a Hero' by Bonnie Tyler. SG1 Daniel and Jack Friendship Video by bleeding_muse. I have always loved the friendship between these two men. Now, I'm not a slasher, but this pair is one of the few that I can actually understand where slash fans are coming from. To me this vid is all about the friendship, but enjoy it however you want to. :)

They're Russian movies, the first is Night Watch, second is Day Watch and the third is going to be either Twilight Watch or Dusk Watch (I've seen it listed both ways). So like I always do when I see something that grabs me I head to Youtube and check out the video offerings. I wasn't disappointed, they were all good. Star Trek - I'm on a boat. If you're one of the five cave-dwelling people on the face of the planet who hasn't seen this yet, watch it. Watch it now. YOUR LIFE HAS BEEN LACKING. I especially love the use of the stuttering bass in this to tip the footage. Neon Genesis Evangelion - Engel. Certain people on my Flist know this of old when it first came out. Old as hell, but sweet jesus people, THIS is how you do a music video. The attention to detail is fantastic. Long lost days of AMV 4tw. Ninja Scrolls - Dragula. Another classic, if a bit heavy on the video effects...and again, this is why I cry at a lot of mvids punched out by the Movie Maker generation. Dudes. seriously. WATCH AND FUCKING LEARN The slow mo explosion followed by the high speed repeat is made of win. Rurouni Kenshin - Tears. The end of this one is brilliant. Heavy on the seisouhen clips. You do kinda need to know the story to get the full impact, but fuck, from 04:00, you damned well get the image.. A firm fave. Missing is Hold me, thrill me, kiss me, kill me...an awesome Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning battle vid mixing footage from the b5 ep Severed Dreams that sadly appears to no longer be on youtube. Cartoon Heroes (A-Team, Youtube).
Watch it. Just..watch it. PERFECT CHOICE OF MUSIC FOR THE SHOW. I've been singing the song all damned day. I defy anyone not to start grinning once it really gets going :D

VID REC: Eureka. Never Leave Your Heart Alone by lidi - There are so few Eureka fanvids that I was excited when I came across it, only to discover that it's no longer there. lidi was kind enough to re-upload it when I asked, and I'm glad that she did. I liked the song choice--it works for Stark, who's not the romantic type and probably never wanted to fall in love, let alone twice. I think the vid captures the homoerotic nature of the love triangle. (Actually, I don't know why there isn't more OT3 fanwork in this fandom, but that's besides the point.) Parts I particularly liked:
1:10 - the juxtaposition of the lyrics with the image of Stark between Allison and Jack 2:30 - Stark in the car with Jack, which, without context, looks like he's upset about falling in love with Jack, too

"I found this video on youtube. It is a mix or mash-up of the titles, logos, and themes from Doctor Who, including that of the 8th Doctor, from Hartnell all the way through to David Tennant's Doctor. It clocks in at 8 minutes, which is a bit long for a non-fan viewing, but I loved every minute of it. There's a real uptick in excitement in the music midway through the two Tom Baker titles -- whoever arranged the music did a nice job of goosing up the tempo. I think my favorite logo is the Tom Baker Diamond Logo, which for some reason ends the video. Maybe it was the vid-maker's favorite logo, too?
