After the TOTALLY STUPID AND WRONG news this week that there may be a new, non-Joss, non-original cast Buffy movie, this fan songvid pretty much sums up how I feel. Isn't Heroes crying out for a fanvid set to "Jizz in My Pants"? The internet agrees!. (NOT EVEN A LITTLE SAFE FOR WORK.) Star Trek Cribs: The Director's Cut is so awesome I can't even explain.

Creepin' Up On You by WafflesnBrains. Heroes. Mohinder/Sylar. I'm recommending this video because it appeals to my guilty pleasure, which is creepy!love. it does have element of like, a 1980's horror love story. It's definitely a video that re-contextualizes the source (my favorite kind!) And the ending is my absolute favorite part. Shake It by analeian. The Big Bang Theory. this video captures everything I love about the show. Its high intensity, and seems like a longer video than it actually is. It's a good happy-making video. Somewhere A Clock Is Ticking by Cursd818. Criminal Minds. Morgan/Reid? Oh fuck yes, please. My newest attention stealer.It's a really emotional video, and Reid's delicacy really comes through int his video. He's almost like a baby bird here, somehow, such potential contained in this easily damaged package. When You Fly Too Close To The Ground by 404ing. Supernatural. Gorgeous style and flow. This is not just a video about Castiel, it is a video that *feels* like Castiel. It has his conflicted heart in every clip. It examines his relationship with Dean, Anna, and Uriel. There are some beautiful transitions which morph Castiel into Dean, a beautiful metaphor for the videos theme of an Angel getting too close to humans. There is nothing I don't love about this video.

I did then hunt down "Handlebars" so I could see it again. And then I watched "Mothership" and "One Girl Revolution" because I really needed some cheering up. Thank god for vidders, I say. So what's your favorite vid that Makes you happy? Links, please! For me, at the moment, it's "Mothership" by laurashapiro. Also that awesome Aeryn vid to "Are You Gonna Be My Girl", by JS and AAR. And lcsbanana's "Jack: or lessons in reading against the text", which is a Heroes vid of great brilliance.

I find I actually like fanvids! I should modify that to say I like well-made fanvids. Seeing as I've been watching Heroes lately I've got a few Heroes vids saved on my delicious: Warning: Spoilers for all four volumes of Heroes 1. Sylar: Cells - I just really liked the timing and effects she used. I can see why it has won awards. 2. Sylar: Oh NO, You Didn't! A funny vid and quite well put together. Great pairing of song to character. XD Really great timing, too! 3. Shot through the Heart - Sylar & Noah. I don't know if I'd say they're in lurve but they DEFINITELY have a thread that ties them together. If I get time I want to do a time line of their grudge-match.

Gone by bradcpu. Pitch Black. This fits the movie so well. It's got such intensity, badass action. The musicality and editing just make me gawk because it's so amazing. The Burly Man The Matrix. Remastered! Reburlied! Mr. Anderson is way cooler than the coolest thing I've ever seen. Plus I freaking love this Limp Bizkit song. And the editing is just so in your face and the clip choices are perfect. Crazy in Love by sisabet and cappy. Merlin. Merlin + Arthur = <3 <3 <3 <3 My roommate laughed when she realized I giggle at the exact same places whenever I re-watch the video. Because. O. M. G. there are not enough OMGs or a font big enough to textually render my adoration and glee for this vid. Seriously. IT IS SO GOOD. Heroes: Oh No You Didn't. Sylar. omg. oh no you didn't! I can hear aurora_84 laughing from across the world. really. Also? *falls on the floor giggling like a banshee* Creeping Up on You. This is what all Sylar/Mohinder fic is like. Really. And I would be lying if I didn't shriek in joy and surprise at 3:18. Decontexualizing clips for. the. win. Oh. I'm not always an automatic fan of constructed reality vids, but here? Here is a big mofo'ing yes. yes yes yes. *jumps around* yes yes. yes. and omg. yes. *has turned into a puddle of fangirl goo* Because I am loving and missing Nathan Petrelli a lot right now, Four Seasons in One Day by greensilver. I will never, ever get sick of watching this vid. Over and over. Oh, Nathan.

I bring you an amazing Mohinder/Sylar crackvid that nowhack made for me. She makes some of the most hilarious vids in Heroes fandom, and this one is up at the very top of my favorites. It's been a few days since she posted it and I cannot stop watching it. It even has some Bobhinder. You know you love that crazy shit. MYLAR. I HAVE SUCH FOND MEMORIES OF YOU.

Not sure who all in my f-list is a Heroes fan, but I just had to rec this vid. Knowing my love of weird/alternate/unconventional pairings, this is one of my top Heroes couples, as twisted as the idea of them together may be. The editing on this thing is awesome in the manipulation of the clips and it just feels so real, I had to share when I stumbled across it on YouTube. (Sylar/Claire)

jescaflowne's Go Baby (Charlie's Angels (films)) - So much fun and silliness in the editing of the clips. The editing on the dancing to the music is FABULOUS! millylicious's In My Veins (Heroes) - Amazing use of building and releasing tension musically, great comparisons and contrasts, sense of mood, coloring, and lighting. sweetestdrain's Keeper of the Fire not available online as of now (Multi) - Excellent stringing of so many different sources together. It's so interesting to see all the different kinds of narratives compared and paralleled. The editing of so many different shows is amazing because I can tell what clip is from what show, but it all feels like it fits together.
crack_van: VID REC: Heroes - Another Way to Die
Heroes - Another Way to Die by Wafflesnbrains/nowhack. Music: Alicia Keys ft. Jack White. Ensemble. Nowhack has a ton of amazing Heroes vids, but I chose this one for a few reasons. First off, it's an ensemble vid, and it was that or another Mylar rec and I didn't want to do that. Second, though it takes clips from seasons 1 and 2 as well, half of the clips in this vid are from volume 3. Now, I'm not a big fan of V3, to say the least, but Nowhack makes it look good! Lastly, but perhaps most importantly, it's simply an amazing video. It showcases all of the characters really well, the music and clips fit perfectly, and all in all it's just amazing.

Ah yes. *grins widely* Timing is everything. Via metafandom: giandujakiss posted only yesterday about how the commentaries on their vid Origin Stories had been mistaken by non-fannish folk as their "primary documents", while the vid itself was mistaken as supplementary material. She then links to several vids that perform this type of reinterpretation. I've recced one of them before, the Heroes vid Jack, or Adventures in Reading Against the Text, which is smart, sharp, and needs to be canon, like, NOW. I've also seen Women's Work, a Supernatural vid that never flinches from pointing out the misogyny inherent in that show's dead/victimised women.

Sophie's Secret LJ - Vids to radiohead
How many vids I know of using the songs of my favourite band, Radiohead. Most of these are angsty and/or violent (I loves me some angsty violence). Really fantastic: Rodeohead by Absolute Destiny. Firefly as a countrified medley of Radiohead songs. Perfect. Creep by BradCPU. BTVS. Faith and Buffy and Spike. I adore this vid, it's just the kind of angst I like.
