27 Things To Do Before a Conference | chrisbrogan.com
If you’re attending events over the next several months, you might give some thought to a quick checklist that might help you better accomplish your goals. As I’m not entirely sure of your goals, I’ll list a bunch of ideas, and you can just narrow it down to what you think works best for you. Feel free to add more ideas to the comments section.
I should note that this post presumes we’re talking about more modern conferences and/or events where people might be even vaguely connected to the Internet.
Conference 2.0 -- NECC, Reflections and Moving Forward. - Practical Theory
So here's what I want to do. I want to host a conference at SLA the weekend of January 26th, 2008. (In between the Conference championships and the Super Bowl, thankyouverymuch!) I don't expect a national crowd, but there are a lot of local folks who do amazing things. My hope would be to capture what was so amazing about edubloggercon and NECC without throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

This is the wiki site for self-coordinated gatherings ("meet-ups") of educational bloggers, timed to coincide with ed tech conferences. This site is a wiki, and so you add yourself to the attending lists, and help coordinate the time and venue for each "meet-up."
The Fischbowl: NECC Reflection #2: Do We Need NECC?
So what I’m struggling with is my very strong belief that ongoing, sustained staff development (which is what we presented on) is the key to long-term change and improvement in schools, yet a one-time conference – even one as large as NECC – doesn’t fit that model. How best can a conference like NECC be part of an ongoing, sustained staff development effort in my (or anyone’s) school?
