Eportfolios Getting started with Mahara - mylearning
This 3 hr workshop provides attendees with an over view of ePortfolios for use with in the VET environment.It looks at how ePortfolios can be used by learners to stores digital media in a range of forms for presentation to a variety of audiences and contexts including Skills recognition processes, assessment, assignments or resumes.
The workshop also provides participants the opportunity to gain hands on experience using the Mahara ePortfolio platform.
coonaraRPL - E-portfolios
Coonara Community House has received Federal Government funding under the Australian Flexible Learning Framework (E-portfolio Implementation Trial) to investigate the development of an e-portfolio tool to assist in the assessment of RPL with students enrolled to complete a Diploma of Children's Services (CHC 50302).
Coonara Community House have sourced existing tools and expanded them to suit the need of CCH students; and established a Coonara Community House site on the VET SA Mahara environment.
Students with good basic computer skills have been asked to be part of this project to assess the appropriateness and effectiveness of this type of assessment. Coonara Community House sincerely thank the students who have offered their services in this project.
LIMF Student Data Transfer Note Report
The primary task for the project was to investigate whether and how the current manual SDTN system could be made electronic.
The final report of this research project was presented to AICTEC on 3 March 2009.
The report has been referred to the National Interoperability and Digital Architecture Advisory Group for further consideration.
Training overhaul gets tick at COAG
Students doing vocational education and training courses will find it easier to move between states under a new deal struck between the states and the federal government.
The Council of Australian Governments (COAG) meeting in Brisbane on Monday agreed to set up a new independent national regulator for the vocational education and training (VET) sector.
The regulator will be responsible for the registration and audit of registered training providers across Australia.
Students will also get a unique identifier and set of records which they could take with them and have recognised as they move interstate.

Dumfries & Galloway College - Embedding e-Portfolios into the FE Curriculum
In 2005, as part of the ISLE project, Duncan Gillespie and Robert Brown from Dumfries & Galloway College started working on an idea to use the open source WordPress blogging platform to host student e-Portfolios. From the initial pilot project, the WordPress e-Portfolio has grown to cover all curricular areas and even been adopted by other Scottish colleges.\nThe Dumfries & Galloway solution is a fully-featured e-Portfolio, offering a secure space to store evidence and reflect on progress made. The large variety of themes on offer allows students to customise the look of their pages and showcase achievements in a personalised context.
e-Assessment Association
The newly formed e-Assessment Association has three major goals for its community: to provide professional support for workers in this field of expertise, to work collaboratively with members and national organisations to create and communicate the positive contribution that technologies can make to assessment methods and produce a statement of good practice for commercial vendors of e-Assessment.
