  • Obituary: Julius McCoy, a Michigan State football, basketball and track star in the 1950s, died at his home Friday in Harrisburg, Pa. He was 76. McCoy was named MSU's athlete of the year in 1956. He spent 12 years playing in the Eastern Professional Basketball League, in the Continental Basketball Association and with the Harlem Globetrotters. McCoy scored 1,377 points in his three-year basketball career at MSU and is ranked 18th on the Spartans' all-time scoring list. - thecoach on 2008-05-20

Officers said Anthony didn't get preferential treatment.
Police spokesman Sonny Jackson said it's "not a standard practice [for an officer to give a DUI suspect a ride], but it is done on occasion and it is not a violation of department policy."

ESPN - Rockets unveil monument honoring Hall of Famer Olajuwon - NBA

When he first arrived at the arena, Olajuwon put on a pair of red and white, size-18 sneakers and stepped into a block of wet cement. He then kneeled to make handprints in another wet block. The blocks were to be placed near the sculpture.
