I still think the best and immediate applications will see from the Semantic camp are for internal/intranets. The technology is there but it doesn't scale *yet*.

While the article is about independent web sites and blogs, the same principles apply to corporate web sites. Instead of ads replace the word promotions or "deals". They're still ads and usually they still annoy visitors.

Unfortunately, sometimes monetizing a website comes at the expense of its readers and visitors. Obviously, in order to maintain a successful web presence, the site must be monetized in a way that is acceptable to visitors.
