Interesting to see Google met with the same skepticism as Microsoft from the open source community, even though Chrome OS is open source itself.

Who are you going to trust and believe in? The non-commercial Ubuntu Foundation (and wider project), which has developed an open-source operating system second to none and virtually ended the Linux distribution wars? Or Google, which also makes free products (well, mostly) and packages advertising in (sometimes)?
"The reviews are in, and the just-released Ubuntu 9.04, i.e. "Jaunty Jackalope," rates as a slick, fully-formed Linux desktop. Looking to get started or upgrade your system? We're recommending 10 downloads for everyone to try."
This would be really useful if I actually edited much video :)
The author of Ubuntu Kung Fu has written the Ubuntu Pocket Guide and is giving away the PDF for free. Score!
Sweet! This is exactly what I need to install Ubuntu on my netbook. Looks like a good weekend project.
I love TweetDeck and am excited to try and get AIR running on my Ubunutu machine. It's really the only thing I haven't found a good substitute for on Linux. Although their are supposedly a few good FireFox extensions that work well. I just can't imagine them handling the amount of users I follow as well as TweetDeck does.
Today seems to be the day for open source operating system news. I have several Ubuntu books but I feel the need to buy this book. Must be the kitten on the front.
This is a great point that anyone who uses opensource (and I would argue any kind of free app) should be paying it back however they can.

Many thanks, that sorted out the problem for me too :)
I've seen other people say that it doesn't work for them. They might need to restart firefox or disable googe toolbar and then re-enable it (with restarts).
vhofOctober 22nd, 2007, 12:10 AMHmm.. Didn't solve for me.
BUT, I rebooted - don't know if it was needed, because it didn't help.
Then I went to toolbar.google.com and installed the toolbar again (didn't remove the previous one).
Now it works.
