This is a great post detailing how to pull RSS feeds from Facebook and into your reader of choice. On a related not I've noticed that as more blogs start building Facebook pages it's actually possible to use Facebook as a reader. More on this later.

I find it very interesting that Feedly is #2 (it rocks, so no surprise) and that Google Reader is #1. Meaning the #1 reader fuels the back end of the #2 reader.

This is moving in the same direction as LazyFeed. A few years ago this kind of service was mocked. Now people are starting to see the application.

  • It's like iGoogle (but simpler albeit vastly less robust) and Alltop (except with images).  So which one is best for Pros?  Most who know me would say I’d say to stick with iGoogle… and they wouldn’t be wrong here.  iGoogle offers the whole kitnkaboodle when it comes to research, monitoring, sharing etc.  If you  need a one-stop shop Google has the goods/edge here.  But if you are looking for something simpler-looking, prettier and  easier to set  up (and it’s not on Guy Kawasaki’s Alltop) you might just want to point ye olde brower to www.guzzle.it.

I may check this one out. I've never played around much with client based RSS readers but some people really like them. Now if this just synced with Google Reader that'd be awesome.

I really wish there was an alternative to feedburner. i'm about at the point where i may just go with the default feeds build into WordPress and Drupal, but then you lack the reporting and management features. I'm sure there's a way to DIY it I'm just not g33ky enough.

Finally a competitor to FeedBurner. I'll have to check out Feedsqueezer and report back.

I've dumped all the blogs in my feed a few times and I always end up with more feeds than I had before in a few months. A really good solution to this is Illumio, which I'll talk about at length later

Disqus has been quitely building momentum. I dismissed it when it first came out because I felt the conversation was the most important part of your blog/social network and why would you want to give that away. But more and more services like FriendFeed which can aggregate all of these conversations (while simultaneously dis-aggregating them) is making me give Disqus a second look.

  • Some people say that the bubble's going to take a downturn in the next year or two - that huge numbers of copycat startups are going to shut down, people are going to be out of work and Web 2.0 cheerleaders are going to eat their (our) words.

While startup churn is inevitable in any industry (thank goodness we're not restaurant founders!) I think this forecast is selling the future short. There are some big trends I'm really excited about for the web in 2008. Whatever happens to the economy, there's at least a whole lot of innovation to be inspired by right now. Ultimately, I think that will end up brightening the picture for all of us around the world.

  • This is a seriously amazing post.

Not only do I think that Marshall nailed the upcomming trends, this is an amazing collection of feeds and resources.  What ever you do grab the feeds he's built.
