Jen X Music » The Resistance
For days now I have been spending as much time as possible in my room. No, I wasn’t sent there for sassing off to Tac (I wish), it is just where the best speakers are connected to the computer. Muse was so kind and has been streaming their new album “The Resistance” from their site before it was released today.
Jen X Music » Marvelous “Mewsic” These Days
I’m essentially wonder-struck with Mew’s newest album “No More Stories...” Neither Tac or I have listened to much else since it arrived at our house.
Spotify: A Game Changer For On Demand Music
Spotify is a lightweight desktop client that gives you access to millions of artists and their songs. It’s as simple as searching for your song and playing the track. The library of audio is quite impressive. On most searches I find almost every track and or album ever made.

How Imogen Heap Connected With Fans
I know my wife www.jenxmusic.com tracked her process and is ready to buy her next album. It's a great way to include fans in the process, making them even more fanatic.

the story of how singer Imogen Heap involved her fans in the process of creating her latest album, using a variety of tools, including MySpace, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr. She not only kept them in the loop of pretty much everything that was going on with the album, but she also reached out to them for ideas
Radiohead Leaks Its Own Track To BitTorrent; Apparently Still Happy With 'Free' | Techdirt
It's great to see the bands that have already made it take this approach and the bands that haven't made it can afford to take this approach but has their been a case where a band "made it" by taking this kind of approach?

Add Sticky NoteBut on Monday, the band not only officially released the track for free, but in order to distribute it, it pointed to the very same torrent tracker that had been uploaded last week. In other words, the band leaked its own latest song (for free) via BitTorrent, let the buzz build, and then officially announced the "release" a few days later.
- You have to love what Radiohead does -- both their music and their experimentation with the business model. - on 2009-08-19

16 Great Music Add-Ons for Firefox
These are very cool. The problem I have is that I don't listen to much music via the Web. I mostly listen to my iPod.
Slacker Personal Radio - Listen to Free Internet Radio Stations
I know I mentioned Slacker's iPhone app recently but today I just discovered that Slacker Radio has a Jack Bauer http://bit.ly/eBl and an Obama station http://bit.ly/13JlA.
Slacker Personal Radio - Slacker Radio on iPhone and iPod Touch
Slacker is an intriguing company that really tried to take a different approach to the market, coupling their internet radio to a device. Unable to compete with the iPod it looks like they might be finally giving up on the hardware play and just sticking to internet radio. I'm thinking of writing up as comparison between Pandora and Slacker.

I love seeing the artists themselves destroy the status quo of the music industry. Trent Reznor's new album was released for free and now he's using torrent sites to distribute high quality live video footage from his concerts.
A Jukebox on MySpace That Takes Aim at Apple - NYTimes.com
I have always said that MySpace was missing a huge opportunity in not launching a more robust music service. I'm skeptical that this will be THAT solution, but I'm hoping it is. Jen and I already listen to a lot of music off MySpace. If this is done right it could be a major competitor to not just iTunes but Pandora and Last.FM
In Defense Of The Genre - Say Anything - Pandora Internet Radio
This explains why IO like Say Anything so much: "anyone who questions Say Anything's ability to stay afloat in light of their frontman's bipolar disorder need only"

Cold War Kids: From Blogs to Bonnaroo
2006-12-22
<!--CONTENT-->
Cold War Kids first came together in Fullerton, CA, but, in many ways, Matt Aviero,
Matt Maust, Jonnie Russell, and Nathan Willett truly hail from the blog-o-sphere. Since forming in 2004, the quartet has worked hard to patent an original, edgy sound, based on the Cold War Kids concept Maust first explored as an artist. But it wasn’t until some of the internet’s most influential music portals picked up the group’s early EPs that Cold War Kids truly found its audience. In the months leading up to the release of Cold War Kids’ debut album, Robbers & Cowards, the four California artists also began branding themselves as an in-demand support act, placing them onstage with fellow blogger buzz-bands like Tapes ‘n Tapes, Sound Team, and Two Gallants. Below guitarist Jonnie Russel let’s us know what’s next.
