I loved the Courier idea and was heartbroken when MSFT axed it. The design of this app looks really promising, I’m interested in trying it.
AppBuilder has very limited functionality. Basically you’re just making a custom version of their app but it’s a start and a sign of future things to come.

twendz is a Twitter mining Web application that utilizes the power of Twitter Search, highlighting conversation themes and sentiment of the tweets that talk about topics you are interested in. As the conversation changes, so does twendz by evaluating up to 70 tweets at a time. When new tweets are posted, they are dynamically updated, minute by minute.
Looks interesting. It may actually be worth the price.
Slacker is an intriguing company that really tried to take a different approach to the market, coupling their internet radio to a device. Unable to compete with the iPod it looks like they might be finally giving up on the hardware play and just sticking to internet radio. I'm thinking of writing up as comparison between Pandora and Slacker.

Developers are also hamstrung by a weird nondisclosure agreement (NDA) that prohibits them from discussing how to write better iPhone applications with one another.
