My own experience shows that it's the case for me. I don't blog as much on my old blogs anymore, and everytime I start doing that again I see spikes of traffic the more posts I publish.

Personally I think some blogs (bloggers) are. I see for example Engadget, Mashable and such big "blogs" more like news sources. I think that could be journalism.
"Real" News often link back to these big "blogs".
