Free Technology for Teachers: This Day in History Videos

The videos provide a quick overview of three to five items of historical significance from that day. The videos appear to be produced in one large lot so you can view videos from the entire week prior to a date. For example I've already watched tomorrow's "this day in history" video.

Applications for Education
If you need a quick warm-up or closing activity for your history lesson, these videos may be just what you've been looking for.

VodSpot - Create Your Own Video Website

Applications for Education
VodSpot could be a great way to create your own video website containing only the videos that pertain to your class. VodSpot accepts videos from such a wide range of sources so even if your school blocks YouTube you can still create a great resource for your students.

Initially setting up your VodSpot website can be a little confusing because of the user interface within your account. My best advice is to look to the right hand column to check to see if you are working in VodPod or VodSpot.

All content on EduTube is moderated and only “relevant, educational content is permitted“. Indeed, EduTube focuses on high quality, popular videos - those which get several hundred to several thousand or more views a day on the hosting website.

The videos may be searched according to category, educational level, video type, duration, language, relevant tags and copyright.

YouTube in the Classroom | Finding Common Ground

Many districts block YouTube for students and in many cases, for teachers also. In cases where YouTube is not blocked for teachers, embedding video content from YouTube or linking to a video can still be troublesome because the site itself can be overwhelming with the amount of activity (comments & links) found there.

Two sites that may help ease these troubles are Quietube and Theeter.
