December 17, 2004 3:56 PM GMT (Datamonitor) - The US terrorism insurance market is functioning well at present, with more than 50% of businesses covered for acts of terrorism. However, this might not be the case if the US government fails to extend the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act after 2005. With no way of predicting costs or frequencies of attacks, insurance companies cannot afford to take such a risk.
For the uninitiated, TRIA is the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act, which was passed by US Congress in 2002. Under TRIA, the federal government shares the risk of a terrorist attack with private insurance companies. In effect, the government acts as a reinsurer.

On September 16, 2003, the IRS hosted a press conference to announce a new partnership with the states of the Union to further violate the rights of Americans in their quest to "generate more revenues."
While it's nothing new for the IRS to continue their unchecked rampage against the American people, there was much more to this little press conference than most folks can appreciate, so I'll spell it out here for everyone.
