Cool math .com - An amusement park of math and more! Math lessons, math games, math practice, math fun!
gives the students the ability to search multiple levels or ages ranges of math all within the same site. You can also use this website to play games and work with finance (money) type problems, and then it also gives lesson plans and worksheets. There is a link for parents, students, and teachers and each one is available to everyone without any passwords or registration. This is nice so that not only the teacher but also for parents to see at home to try and assist their children if they are having problems at home with homework or a problem. When incorporating with the lesson. I would have the students use it to review specific topic or section of the website as a way to enrich what they know already know.
Biology in Motion
This website has many resources and videos for quick and easy to understand segments related to a wide variety of science topics. I believe that clips could be edited and shown in the classroom for certain topics that I believe are better explained in a video segment. They have a section called “tips for teachers” that gives useful resources. If we have the fortunate ability to have computers in the classroom this site would provide many activities for kids to enjoy in groups or individually. I believe it would be fun for the students which would encourage learning.
FunBrain.com - The Internet's #1 Education Site for K-8 Kids and Teachers
This website is fun and educational! It offers games for reading, math, spelling, science, etc. It is designed for young children; ages 3-9. It also advertises and gives suggestions on reading books. The games had very cute names such as; MathCar Racing, Bunny Count, Grammar Gorillas, Fact Monster. This would be a great tool for parents to help their children with areas they are struggling with or to just promote learning at home. I would use it as an award in my classroom for good behavior because kids will think they are playing games while actually learning.
I could incorporate it into my 100th day celebration math lesson also by playing one of the games that involves counting up to 100.
National Gallery of Art NGAkids BRUSHster
The website above is called BRUSHster and it is an online painting machine. It provides tons of different brush strokes and lets you create fun online paintings. The site will used for students to easily practice their ideas by creating drawings of their potential roller coasters that they will later draw on paper.
Purplemath
Purplemath's algebra lessons are written with the student in mind. These lessons emphasize the practicalities rather than the technicalities, demonstrating dependable techniques, warning of likely tricks questions, and pointing out common mistakes. The lessons are cross-referenced to help you find related material, and a search box is on every page to help you find what you're looking for.
Welcome to ClassBrain.com
You can search many subjects. I searched for punnett square practice and a punnett square calculator. The URL is http://www.classbrain.com/artteensb/publish/creating_punnett_squares.shtml.
This is a really neat site, and it complements my lesson plan well. Under working out punnett square examples, there is an interactive quiz, where students can keeping choosing answers until they find the right one. There are quizzes for both monohybrid and dyhybrid crosses. Also, under the punnett square calculator, students can choose mono or dihybrid gametes to cross. The F1 generation appears. After doing an in-class lab on punnett squares, it could be fun for students to play around with this calculator to compare their results with what the calculator actually gets. It’s a fun way for them to check their work, and have fun, maybe without realizing they’re learning.
:: e-Learning for Kids ::
This website has games for kids to play and practice what they know. There are different categories so while on this one site a child would be able to practice skills in science, math, English, language, health, and computer skills. In each of these categories there are many different games that cover different areas. In the math category for example there are games about money, adding/subtracting, and place value. There are plenty more but those are just a few. In the science category there are games about animals, body and space. The games are in order of course level. This site is generally for younger children. It lets them practice skills while playing a fun game. They are very simple games and a young child would catch on very easily.
Lesson Plans For K-12 Teachers
My reasons for choosing this website are based on three simple points. One, it is a website that offers a lot or resources, not only lesson plans but themes, tips, worksheets ect. My second reason for choosing this website is not only does it offer a lot of tools a teacher can use, but it gives other sites-for information as well. For example, if you search Special Education in the tool bar it will give you options where you can read about disorders and disabilities, it also gives you the possibility to join groups such as, Special Education Support Groups. My last reason for choosing this website is because-it is HUGE. This website seems to be endless, in a very great way! It is super easy to maneuver around and figure things out, yet it gives so much information and ideas. It is a great website, I will take lesson plans, ideas, strategies off of the website, so it would be great for a parent or guardian to see what I use as a reference.
