particular location or owner, though many companies have proprietary clouds.

  scale on demand to serve as many users as desired
- Data storage is cheap in these environments
- For many institutions, cloud computing offers a cost-effective solution to the
  problem of how to provide services, data storage, and computing power to a

  that need to be maintained and upgraded on-site
