How One Teacher Uses Twitter in the Classroom
-
Rankin uses a weekly hashtag to organize comments, questions and feedback posted by students to Twitter during class. Some of the students have downloaded Tweetdeck to their computers, others post by SMS or by writing questions on a piece of paper. Rankin then projects a giant image of live Tweets in the front of the class for discussion and suggests that students refer back to the messages later when studying.
Best Senior Project, Ever. | Learning is Change.
-
With students like this, why is it that so many schools do not recognize their contributions or honor the ways that they can add to the learning environment. What if we asked all of our seniors to create a site like this to chronicle their passion? What if we had a huge repository of all of their creative endeavors?
And what if we didn’t just ask this of them in Senior year, but every year of their education?
Weblogg-ed » How to Waste the Education Piece of the Stimulus
-
You want to make the most of the stimulus? Invest it in getting teachers and students connected, and in professional development that goes far, far beyond the one-day Powerpoint workshops many are mired in to something that focuses on how learning changes in a networked world. One that helps teachers see the world differently and helps them re-envision their classroom practice.
gr8tweets » home
-
For the month of March, a group of educators and lifelong learners will be picking a "Tweet of the day" and ReTweeting it with a tag: #gr8t
Hopefully, you will join us in doing this too! See the 'about' page for more details.
There are a number of reasons why you might want to participate:
• To share what you value about Twitter.
• To see what others value about Twitter (just look below).
• To celebrate the power and wisdom of your Personal Learning Network.
• To find interesting people to follow on Twitter.
• To commit to giving Twitter a try.

We will help you create a plan with the following features, defined
by the mathematics education and research communities as fundamental
to successful reform:1.
It will be long-term. A successful reform effort spans several
years.
2.
It will enhance participants' mathematical content knowledge while
simultaneously developing their pedagogical sense.3.
It will be systemic, addressing change on a school, district,
or regional basis and involving teachers, administrators, instructional
assistants, parents, and other school stakeholders.4.
It will provide modeling that assures participants first hand
experiences with NCTM Standards-based practices (e.g., manipulatives
to develop meaningful conceptual models, instructionally embedded
assessment, questioning to elicit student thinking).
