HTML Images

  • The <img> tag is empty, which means that it contains attributes
    only and it has no closing tag.

HTML Links

  • Always add a trailing slash to subfolder references. If you link like this: href="http://www.w3schools.com/html",
    you will generate two HTTP requests to the server, because the server will add a slash
    to the address and create a new request like this: href="http://www.w3schools.com/html/"

10 Predictions for 2010 - Predictions 6-10 - Reviews by PC Magazine

  • 7. TV goes 3D. Most of us have switched to HDTV by now, so the television industry is looking for the next big thing to sell us. 3D TV will be the next big push. 3D will also begin to creep into PC and console games. It might not be ready for primetime on any of these platforms, but 2010 will be the year that 3D starts to make serious headway with techies, starting us down the path to a more widespread adoption of the technology.
  • 9. DVDs will be replaced by streaming movies. Hollywood has come to terms with the fact that DVDs will soon primarily be a thing of the past. This trend has already forced Blockbuster to shutter more than 600 stores, moving much of their business over to on-demand streaming movies. DVDs won't go away entirely, but streaming content from Netflix, CinemaNow, Apple, and others will gain more ground in 2010. Soon enough, this will become the way most of us get movies delivered. This, in turn, will force more users to get streaming movie boxes like the ones offered by Roku or next generation products like AppleTV and TVs with Internet capabilities.

10 Predictions for 2010 - Reviews by PC Magazine

  • 4. Mini-tablets become the new e-book platform. The publishing industry is quickly embracing mini-tablets before the devices even hit the market. The industry sees them as a new platform that will allow for creative multimedia content delivery for books, magazines, and newspapers. Many publishers are already working with Adobe to create next generation content for these devices. 2010 will be a year of experimentation for both publishers and hardware developers. We may well look back at 2010 as the year when publishers reinvented books, magazines, and newspapers.

    Headings are important in HTML documents.

    HTML Headings

    Headings are defined with the <h1> to <h6> tags.

    <h1>
    defines the largest heading. <h6> defines the smallest heading.

    Example

    <h1>This is a heading</h1>

    <h2>This is a heading</h2>

    <h3>This is a heading</h3>

    Note: Browsers automatically add an empty line before and after headings.

    Headings Are Important

    Use HTML headings for headings only. Don't use headings to make text BIG
    or bold.

    Search engines use your headings to index the structure and content of your
    web pages.

    Since users may skim your pages by its headings, it is important to use
    headings to show the document structure.

    H1 headings should be used as main headings, followed by H2 headings, then
    less important H3 headings, and so on.

    HTML Rules (Lines)

    The <hr /> tag is used to create an horizontal rule (line).

    Example

    <p>This is a paragraph</p>

    <hr />

    <p>This is a paragraph</p>

    <hr />

    <p>This is a paragraph</p>
