What distro, kernel version and hardware do you use? What is your Windows
version?
Yes, it's quite possible that it's hardware related. There are daily over a
thousands downloads but nobody reported such problem unless he had a
hardware issue. In probability order typically disk, RAM, disk cable, power
supply or motherboard related.
